Ron brings over 40 years of experience in accounting and tax services with national and regional CPA firms.

Ron Applewhite serves as director of strategic tax services for Addicus. His responsibilities are identifying, sourcing, and deploying various federal and state tax credit incentives. In addition, Addicus will be utilizing his deep expertise and experience to consult on a myriad of sophisticated tax and planning matters to add value to its portfolio of client families across their family wealth enterprises.

Since 2011, Ron has been the owner of his own CPA firm where he has worked with numerous private equity entities as well as consulted on or otherwise been a part of countless state and federal tax credit transactions. He also serves as managing member of Tax Credit Advisors, LLC, and numerous other investment LLCs. Prior to these roles, Ron worked with Horne, LLP from 1991 to 2011, serving as a tax partner, partner in charge of the Jackson, Mississippi, office, and president and chairman of the board. Previously, he was with KPMG from 1976 to 1991 where he was a tax partner.

Ron is passionate about serving his community on multiple platforms including serving as President of the Rotary Club of Jackson, Mississippi Children’s Museum, New Stage Theatre, and Greater Jackson Arts Council. He has also served on the Boards of The Mississippi Multiple Sclerosis Society, Mississippi Opera Association, Farish Street Historic District Neighborhood Foundation, Mississippi Economic Education Council, and Christ United Methodist Church.

He is a lifetime member of the alumni association for the University of Mississippi, where he served as a member of the alumni board. He is also a member of advisory council for the Patterson School of Accountancy, Ole Miss First, Vaught Society, and Circle Society. Ron is also a member of the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Ron earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accountancy from the University of Mississippi. He then continued his education at the University of Texas where he received his Master of Professional Accountancy degree in taxation. He earned his Certified Public Accounting designation in 1978.

Ron resides in Flowood, Mississippi with his wife, Melissa. Together, they have two sons.
